CRESWICK, DAYLESFORD & MACEDON RANGES AUTUMN COLOUR TOUR

From AUD $2,680.00
  • Duration: 7 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Creswick
Set within the Victorian Goldfields region lies the delightful district of Daylesford & Macedon Ranges. It is a delight to visit year round, but especially so in autumn when its charming towns and villages are ablaze with autumn colour. Our 3 night stay at the impressive RACV Goldfields Resort at Creswick will allow us to explore many of the region’s fabulous attractions at a relaxed pace. The gold rushes of the 1850’s created incredible prosperity as is evident in the beautiful heritage buildings of Ballarat and Bendigo. When the gold began to dwindle, attention shifted to tourism generated by the 140 springs which bubble to the surface through the igneous rocks and volcanic fault lines of the district. Rich in magnesium, calcium and silica, among other minerals, the regions springs are believed to cure all sorts of afflictions. Apart from the restorative effects of the mineral springs. The amazing landscape, forests, galleries and exquisite food and wine have made this one of Victoria’s premier destinations.

We will also enjoy 2 nights in Melbourne focused on more autumn colour in our cosmopolitan southern capital. We will visit the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley along with many of Melbourne’s beautiful parks and gardens. A shuttle will be organised so you can choose the attractions of most interest, avoiding duplication from previous visits to Melbourne. Our accommodation is at the Travel Inn at Carlton, centrally located and a stone’s throw from the famous Lygon Street.

Our tour commences with our first night in Albury at the Hovell Tree Inn. Our drive south we will take in lots more autumn colour in the Southern Highlands, Yass and Holbrook. Albury-Wodonga has become one of our major inland cities and boasts a rich history dating back to the paddlewheeler heydays along the Murray River. It sits at the centre of a productive agricultural region that has generated significant prosperity since early European settlement.
