On the edge of the pristine wilderness that is the magnificent world heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park lies the lush farming district of Gloucester. Barrington Tops is a 25 kilometre long plateau extending between a series of extinct volcanic peaks in the Mount Royal Range. In the river valleys of the lowlands weathered basalt from the mountains forms rich alluvial soils.
The area has built a fine reputation for the fresh local produce of its Farmgate Trail and the hospitality of its people. Essentially Barrington is an alliance of specialty food producers united in the pursuit of sublime quality and unsurpassed freshness. This tour explores both the tranquil wilderness areas and the diversity of farms and produce of the region. We will talk to local farmers and of course sample some of their amazing produce!
