From AUD $990.00
  • Duration: 3 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Cowra

Cowra, a charming town located in the central west of New South Wales,  experiences a beautiful spring season marked by mild temperatures and vibrant blooms. In spring, Cowra’s countryside comes alive with a burst of colour as the landscape transitions from the cooler months to warmer weather. The surrounding fields and orchards begin to blossom, and the lush greenery is complemented by the vibrant colours of native and imported flowers. This is the ideal time to experience the beauty of Cowra, especially when paired with the town’s renowned Japanese Garden.

The Cowra Japanese Garden, one of the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, is a stunning feature of the town that truly shines in spring. The garden’s serene environment, with its carefully designed ponds, flowing streams, and meticulously sculpted landscapes, is made even more enchanting with the blooming cherry blossoms, or sakura. These delicate, pale-pink flowers create a picturesque setting, transforming the garden into a tranquil and awe-inspiring oasis.

The Sakura Matsuri Festival, held annually at the  Gardens, celebrates the beauty of the cherry blossoms and the Japanese cultural heritage. It features traditional Japanese cultural displays, performances, and food stalls offering a taste of Japan. Visitors can enjoy activities like tea ceremonies, calligraphy workshops, and kimono try-ons, while being surrounded by the soft, ethereal beauty of the sakura. Throughout the festival, the gardens come alive with music, dance, and the aroma of Japanese cuisine. Traditional Japanese drumming, folk dance performances, and martial arts demonstrations add to the lively atmosphere. The highlight is the stunning display of cherry blossoms in full bloom, creating a breathtaking backdrop for photographs, picnics, and simply soaking in the peaceful ambiance.

Another highlight of this tour will be the amazing Mayfield Garden, one of the largest cool climate gardens in the world. It is beautifully designed with manicured lawns, a rose walk, a rhododendron walk, a maze, a croquet lawn, parterre garden, aviary, conservatorium, orchard, vegetable garden, water garden, obelisk, chapel and many more treasures at every turn.
