This tour has been designed to showcase the many attractions of the spectacular Top End at a pace that will allow us to truly appreciate its beauty, diversity and vastness. Darwin, our tropical capital, is a vibrant city acclaimed for its relaxed contemporary lifestyle and unique personality. Its colourful history and proximity to South East Asia have made it one of our most culturally diverse cities. Darwin has experienced a boom
over the last five years, yet has retained a lovely ambiance, spread out around a harbour seven times the size of Sydney’s. It is also the gateway to some of the most spectacular National Parks in the world.
World heritage listed Kakadu is of great cultural and environmental significance offering unique insights into Aboriginal culture and providing habitat for an incredible array of bird life. The park is enormous, covering nearly 20,000 square kilometres and includes all the major habitats of the tropical north - stone country with soaring sandstone cliffs and rock stacks, monsoon forests, rivers and billabongs, flood plains, tropical woodlands and mangrove shorelines.
Our journey south takes us to Katherine, the Territory’s fourth largest town. Katherine is also known as the place where “The outback meets the tropics” and is the gateway to Nitmiluk National Park which is home to
Katherine Gorge and its many ancient rock paintings.
