Adelaide, Australia’s first planned city is truly a delight. Colonel William Light has left a wonderful legacy. The city layout, surrounded by 900 hectares of wonderful parklands is an urban masterpiece and has been included on the National Heritage List. Apart from its natural beauty, Adelaide is a vibrant city that has developed a reputation as an arts centre as well as a gateway to some of the best wine regions in the world. Located on the coastline of Gulf St Vincent, Adelaide’s beaches stretch for 30 kilometres.  We will explore Glenelg and Port Adelaide as well as the rich European heritage so evident in the Hills villages such as Hahndorf.

Mildura, despite its regional setting, stands out as a cosmopolitan city due to its diverse population and cultural offerings. This unique blend of elements creates a city that embraces diversity, celebrates multiculturalism, and offers a wide range of experiences for residents and visitors alike.

The Silo Art Trail is Australia’s largest outdoor gallery.   The trail stretches over 200 kilometres from Rupanyup in the south to Patchewollock in the north and provides an insight into the spirit of the Wimmera Mallee region.   Conceived in 2015 it celebrates the regions people through a series of large scale mural portraits on silos donated by Grain Corp as canvases for the artist’s work.
The project has resulted in an influx of visitors and widespread media attention on the Wimmera, reinvigorating some of its smallest towns.  We will take in the eight silos that formed the basis of the original project along with other murals that have sprung up on a variety of buildings across the district.

Turning east our focus will shift to the Murray River and it’s tributaries, the Goulburn and Murrumbidgee Rivers. Swan Hill, Shepparton and Wagga Wagga are thriving rural centres.   Each has its own unique character but they share fascinating histories and surprising cultural facilities.
