Ambalangoda is famous for its intricately carved masks used in traditional Sri Lankan dance performances and ceremonies. It also boasts scenic beaches with golden sandsand clear waters. The area is home to several historic Buddhist temples which serve not only as places of worship but also hold historical and architectural significance. Nearby beaches are involved in turtle conservation focusing on protecting nesting sites and ensuring the survival of sea turtle hatchlings.
Galle’s combination of historic significance, architectural beauty and vibrant culture life makes it a unique and compelliung destination. Galle Fort is one of Sri Lanka’s eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The fort was built by the Portuguese in the late 16th century. It retains its old-world charm and well preserved colonial buildings, narrow streets and ramparts that offer panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.
Yala National Park is a remarkable destination for experiencing Sri Lanka’s natural beauty and wildlife. Its rich biodiversity, varied landscapes and opportunities for wildlife viewing make it a standout location for nature lovers.
Located in the central province Kandy is the second largest city in the country after Colombo. Dominating the town is Kandy Lake. This is an artificial lake created in 1807 by the last ruler of the kingdom of Kandy. One of the most pleasant areas around the lake is at the golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth, housing Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha.
Dambulla is where The Golden Temple is situated. This is the largest best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The mural paintings and 157 statues are of particular importance but please be aware getting to them entails walking up many steps.
