HIGHLAND HORIZONS - ARMIDALE & DORRIGO DISCOVERY

This tour combines the rugged grandeur of the ranges and the rich heritage and  colour of Armidale with our beautiful Mid North Coast. We will have two nights at Cotswold Gardens Motel Armidale (Ph: 6772 8222), three nights at Lookout Mountain Retreat Dorrigo (Ph: 6657 2511) and travel between the two on the stunningly beautiful Waterfall Way. Our last night will be spent at Rydges (Ph: 6589 2888) at the popular mid-north coastal town of Port Macquarie.

Armidale is a fabulous city to visit year-round, where each season brings a stunning display of vibrant colours. Autumn sees the impressive parks and gardens cloaked in a rich veil of colour. The city is the vibrant heart of the New England district, offering an incredible diversity of experiences. The prosperity of the surrounding agricultural region is reflected through the fine heritage buildings scattered throughout Armidale. There are 35 national trust classified properties which help give the city such a unique character. The University of New England was the first  established outside our capital cities and gives Armidale an extra dimension. The beautiful cathedrals serve as a reminder of the city’s religious heritage and there is an abundance of breathtaking scenery and tranquil wilderness areas contained in the many surrounding national parks.

The Dorrigo region encompasses a diverse and stunning landscape with a blend of natural beauty, rural charm, and cultural richness. It provides the perfect base to explore a region that has so many highlights. The neighbouring town, Bellingen, is in one of the most picturesque valleys imaginable with the Dorrigo escarpment providing an impressive back drop. The fertile grazing country of the valley gives way to towering forests in the World Heritage listed National parks.
