As the landscape shifts into a palette of gold and amber, towering grain silos across regional towns are transformed into open-air galleries—each mural a bold celebration of local stories, heritage, and rural life. In New South Wales, towns like Merriwa, Quirindi, and Barraba showcase world-class works by Australian and international artists, turning quiet country roads into immersive cultural journeys.

Cross into Queensland and you'll find equally captivating artworks in Goondiwindi, Yelarbon, and Millmerran—each painting telling a tale of connection to land, history, and community spirit.

We begin in the beautiful Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s oldest and most celebrated wine regions. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and gentle hills, the area is renowned for its Semillon, Shiraz, and gourmet delights. We'll enjoy a mix of wine tastings, local produce, boutique villages, and garden settings—making it the perfect place to ease into our journey.

From the vineyards, we head inland through Tamworth and up to Armidale, nestled in the New England high country. This elegant regional city is rich in history, boasting grand cathedrals, tree-lined streets, galleries, and gracious heritage buildings. We'll explore nearby national parks and enjoy the fresh mountain air, with scenic drives through the New England tablelands. Nestled on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, Goondiwindi is a picturesque town know for its rich history. Often referred to as the “Gateway to the West”, it boasts a vibrant heritage trail,

showcasing landmarks like the “Once Upon a Time Sculpture” created by local artist Andy Scott. Shaped like a large open book and features intricate metalwork that tells stories of the town’s culture, history and connection to the land.

Brisbane is a fabulous city to visit, our northern capital has certainly come of age and is now promoted as Australia’s newest world city.  It is a city of contrasts, dynamic yet laid back, with an ultra modern skyline interspersed with some fine heritage buildings.  The Brisbane River meanders through the city and is framed by many beautiful parks and gardens.  The city has become incredibly diverse in recent years and has developed an air of culture and sophistication which we will explore during our stay.
