TEMORA AIR SHOW & WAGGA
- Duration: 4 Days (approx.)
- Location: WAGGA WAGGA
One of the highlights of the tour will be the fabulous War Birds Downunder Air Show at Temora. Temora has a rich aviation history having been home to the No 10 Elementary Flying School, which during WWII involved more than 10,000 personnel and trained more than 2,400 pilots. Since then, Temora has continued its aviation heritage being a busy airfield for a growing number of sport aviation activities including gliding, parachuting and ultralight operations. In 2000 the Temora Aviation Museum opened, dedicated to the aircraft and pilots who defended Australia and all the aircraft in the collection are flightworthy. The collection boasts Tiger Moths, Wirraways, Spitfires, Ryans, Lockheed Hudsons, Boomerangs, Sabres and Cessna Dragonflys, many of which will take to the skies during our visit.
This tour also features lots of spring colour through the Riverina, Central West and Blue Mountains. The cities and towns of the region are full of character and our 4 day tour allows us time to appreciate the areas many charms. Wagga Wagga - is definitely a city of contrasts, billed as a cultural oasis, it has many fine galleries, several theatre companies, lots of travelling exhibitions and concerts and the university all contributing to enrich the fabric of the community. The Military presence adds an extra dimension as does a flourishing wine industry and the city has a deserved reputation as the cradle for an abundance of sports stars. Despite its growth and progress it has retained its tradition of country hospitality. Our accommodation is at the 4 star Mercure Resort Wagga (Ph: 6939 7200)
